ENGINE REASSEMBLY
Camshaft Assembly (Continued)
Idler Gear and Oil Pump
1. Install thrust w asher onto the idler gear shaft. Assem
ble vane, knock pin and spring to the idler gear.
2. Align the tim ino m arks of the idler gear, crankshaft
gear and cam shaft gear (Rgure 10).

3. Install the oil pum p rotor.
4. Install the oil pum p cover, shim , spring and collar.
Retain w ith snap ring. Adjust w ith shim so that side
clearance betw een pum p, rotor and vane is 0.004-
0.006 inch (0.1-0.15m m ).
CAUTION: Coat BOTH faces of the rotor and
vane with grease prior to assembly. DO NOT
ROTATE THE CRANKSHAFT UNTIL THE TIM
ING GEAR CASE IS MOUNTED.
5. Rotate the oil pum p cover to place the spring pin
insert hole to the center position. Then, assem ble the
gear case.
Timing Gear Case
Install the start spring. Insert the link into the cylin
der block hole. Install the gasket. Install the tim ing gear
case.

Crankshaft Pulley
Align pulley w ith key and install. Tighten to the
recom m ended torque.

72-80 Ft.-Lbs. (10-11 m-kg)
