Installing Video Cards
It may become necessary to install or replace video cards in a Central Station on-site.
Configuration changes and software updates may be required in addition to physically
installing video cards.
There may also be a Technical Service Bulletin to refer to with specific information
including video card compatibility and/or business strategy. Refer to these
communications and/or contact Technical Support for additional information.
The following steps describe an overview of the process.
•
Update BIOS, per need. Contact Technical Support for additional information.
•
Quit the Connex CS application.
•
Install video drivers, per need.
•
Update system files.
•
Shut Down the CPU.
•
Install new video cards.
•
Configure video settings.
In terms of planning and setting proper expectations for the clinical staff, plan for
approximately 20 - 30 minutes of system down time, including at least 1 reboot.
Quit the Connex CS Application
1.
On the Central Station main screen, click on Settings. The login screen appears.
2.
Login with your user account User ID and Password information. Upon success the
Settings window appears.
3.
Click on the Service Tools tab.
4.
Click anywhere in the Command Line window to display the cursor.
5.
Type shutdown
6.
After a few moments, application quits and the Central Station shuts off.
Caution Always follow the steps included within this guide when making video
updates or changes. In most cases, the order in which activities take place are
important for a successful outcome.
Caution Consult with the clinical staff responsible for monitoring patients to
obtain permission to proceed prior to beginning the upgrade. During the upgrade
process, the Connex CS Central Station will not be able to monitor patients,
announce alarms, or print.
