1. Remove the front chassis cover. For instructions, see “Removing the Front Cover” in
2. Remove the front panel bezel from the chassis to access the optical device slot.
3. Loosen the shipping screw that fastens the filler panel to the chassis and remove
the filler panel. (Figure 42, “A”)
NOTE: Keep the filler panel for use later if the optical drive is removed from the
server. The filler panel is required for EMC if there is no optical drive
installed.

4. Align the pins in the blue plastic retention mechanism that comes with the kit to
the corresponding holes in the optical drive. (Figure 43)

5. Holding the drive and the retention mechanism together, slide the optical drive
into the drive opening on the front of the chassis and push until the drive is
seated against the back wall of the drive bracket . (Figure 44, “A”)
