5. Unscrew the protective sheet metal cover and install the hardware RAID module
using slot and screw. The opening in the top should be centered over the LSI
Logic LSISAS1078* hardware RAID controller heat sink (Figure 31, “B”).
6. Attach one end of the flex circuit cable to the connector on the SAS/SATA
hardware RAID module. Install the black plastic retention clip (included in
the accessory bag) over the flex cable connector (Figure 31, “A”). This clip
will secure the cable to the board and prevent the cable from coming loose
during shipment.
7. Line the SAS/SATA hardware RAID module bracket up close to the SAS/SATA
backplane board connector and insert the edge connector into the backplane
board.
8. Run the flex circuit cable across chassis floor (where the fan bracket was) and
connect it to the bridge board that connects the front panel board with the
T5520UR server board. See Figure 24 and Table 4 for the cable routing.
9. Replace the fan assembly bracket by inserting the guide pins into the mounting
holes on the chassis and then tightening the screw at the rear of the bracket
to secure the assembly.
10. If this is the last task you are performing inside the chassis, replace the top
front cover.
4.5 Installing a RAID Intelligent Battery Backup
Unit (IBBU)
The RAID IBBU, which is optional and separately orderable, mounts on the bottom side
of the hardware RAID module. To install the battery, you must first remove the
hardware RAID module from the chassis if it is already installed. See Section 4.4 for
the hardware RAID module procedures.
To install the battery:
1. Remove the battery cable from the kit package and attach it to the connector on the
top of the IBBU module, as shown in Figure 32.
Figure 32. Connecting the IBBU Cable
2. Turn the SAS/SATA hardware RAID module upside-down and carefully mate the IBBU
connector to the connector on the RAID module. (Figure 33, “A” and “B”)
