Audio stops playing when you double-click a CD-ROM disc icon.
m You can’t open data files on a CD-ROM disc and listen to audio tracks on it at the same
time.
Audio CD begins playing automatically when inserted.
m Your computer is set to automatically begin playing audio CDs when they are inserted. To
turn off this feature, use the QuickTime Settings control panel to change the automatic
play setting.
Sound comes out of computer’s speakers even though headphones are
plugged in.
m Plug your headphones into one of the headphone jacks (f) on the front of the
computer.
Sound in headphones is odd.
m Your computer has
3D Surround Sound, which doesn’t work well through
headphones. To turn it off, open the Monitors & Sound control panel and click the Sound
icon. Click to remove the X from the Enabled checkbox.
Can’t record from audio CD.
m Check your computer’s sound input port to see if a microphone or other device is
connected.
m You may need to reset the sound options in the Monitors & Sound control panel. See the
information on sound in Mac OS Help (choose Help from the Finder’s Help menu).
Can’t record with microphone.
m If you’re using your monitor’s built-in microphone to record, use the Monitors & Sound
control panel to mute the monitor’s speakers. In the same control panel, make sure that
the sound input is set to the monitor’s built-in microphone.
m If you’re using an external microphone plugged into your computer, make sure your
sound input source is set to External Microphone. Open the Monitors & Sound control
panel, click the Sound icon, and choose External Microphone from the Sound Input pop-
up menu.

“QuickDraw 3D could not be found” message appears.
m Make sure that the following files are in the Extensions folder (inside the System Folder):
