(Dc)

The 12 volt drect current (DC) electrcal system

(smlar to that n your car or truck) derves ts power

from the battery. an engne-drven alternator keeps

the battery n a charged condton. The battery

voltage s ndcated by the voltmeter on the helm

panel. The negatve termnal of the battery s

attached to the groundng studs of the engne.

ask your dealer for a careful analyss of DC power

needs on your boat. It may be necessary to add

batteres or auxlary chargng methods to supply

adequate power for any addtonal accessores you

wsh to add.

The battery nstalled n your boat has been selected

for ts ablty to furnsh startng power based on

engne startng requrements, as well as ts ablty to

power the DC accessores attached to the electrcal

system. your Engne Operator's Manual ndcates

the recommended battery for the engne nstalled

n your boat.

To remove the battery cables:

1. Turn off all tems drawng power from the

battery.

2. Remove the negatve cable frst, then the

postve cable. To replace the cables, frst

replace the postve cable, then the negatve.

Battery Maintenance

• Check the fluid level in the cells approximately

every 4 weeks, and weekly n summer and hot

zones.

• The fluid level must be between the lower and

upper markngs.

• Replensh only wth dstlled water. Do not use

metal funnels.

• Coat battery termnal clamps wth slcone

grease. keep batteres clean and dry.

Battery lfe s shortened f t s draned to zero

charge before rechargng. It s recommended that

a battery not be dscharged more than 50 percent.

If the battery does become run down, recharge t

as soon as possble.

Runnng the engne to recharge the battery may not

be effectve. The alternator only creates chargng

power at hgher engne speeds, so smply dlng or

trollng wll not generate enough power to recharge

the battery.

If you need to charge a battery, only use a battery

charger desgned to charge automotve/marne

batteres. Use charger only when batteres are

dsconnected from the boat's electrcal crcut.

Follow the charger nstructons.

If your boat wll not be used for several weeks

or more, remove the batteres from the boat and

connect them to a charger.
