IPSec VPN Use
Whenever an IPSec configuration is entered, a corresponding
IPSec configuration must be entered on the other Magnia
SG20. The shared key must be the same on both systems.
You can add additional IPSec connection definitions, by
returning to the IPSec VPN screen and clicking the Add
button. You can create a network of Magnia SG20’s between
several remote offices. In the example below, connections can
be established between the Home Office, Sales Office, the
London Office, but a remote sub-contractor can only contact
the Home Office Magnia SG20.

While the shared key for a specific connection must be the
same on each of the systems that are on either end of the VPN
connection, different keys can be used for connections for
different machines. In the example above, the Home Office
shared key for a connection to Field Sales must be the same
as the key entered on the Field Sales connection for the Home
Office. However, the Home Office shared key to the
Subcontractor may be a completely different key.
When multiple IPSec VPN configurations are entered, they
are all active and multiple connections can be made
simultaneously. In the example above, this means that client
