4.4.3 Cartridge Insert/Release Handle
Operate the cartridge insert/release handle to load or eject a
cartridge only when the Operate Handle indicator is on and after the
momentary beep sounds. The handle lifts to open position and
lowers to the closed position. See Section 4.7 and Section 4.9 for
the operating procedures.
4.4.4 Indicator Action during Power-on Self-Test and Operation
When power is applied to the drive, it Power-on Self-Tests (POST).
The sequence of events is:

The indicators on the right front panel turn on sequentially from top to
bottom. All indicators stay on for a few seconds.
The indictors on the left front panel turn on at the same time for about three
seconds and then turn off.
The green Operate Handle, the orange Write Protected, and the yellow Use
Cleaning Tape indicator turns off. The yellow Tape in Use indicator blinks
while the tape drive initializes.
After initialization, the drive is in one of five states. Page 4-8 has a table
that explains the different states.
