SMCONVRT
SMCONVRT
The SMF SMCONVRT utility is used to transform all of the files on a physical volume
to logically named files managed by SMF.
The SMCONVRT utility is described in Section 4, Migration Guidelines .
SMREVERT
The SMF SMREVERT utility is used to convert a virtual disk’s logically named files that
reside on a particular physical disk back to being direct files; that is, files that are not
managed by SMF.

Software Support for SMF
This summary lists NonStop software products that interact with and support SMF. For

BACKUP BACKUP is a utility program that copies disk files onto magnetic
tape.
COUP The Configuration Utility Program (COUP) is an interactive utility
used for establishing, modifying, and deleting configurations of I/O
devices and the processes that control them, without stopping a
running system. COUP is the operator interface of Dynamic System
Configuration (DSC).
DP2 Disk Process 2 is that portion of the operating system that performs
space allocation, file creation, and read, write, and lock operation on
disk volumes.
DSAP/DCOM The Disk Space Analysis Program (DSAP) is used to analyze disk
space usage, and the Disk Compression Program (DCOM) utility is
used to compress or join the pieces of fragmented disk files.
DSC The Dynamic System Configuration (DSC) is a subsystem used for
dynamic system generation. DSC lets you define, modify, and delete
configurations of I/O devices and their processes, without stopping a
running system. COUP is the operator interface of DSC.
Enscribe Enscribe is file management software that provides a record-at-a-
time interface between servers and a database. As an integral part
of the operating system distributed across two or more processors,
Enscribe helps ensure data integrity if a processor module, I/O
channel, or disk drive fails.
Error program The text of error numbers specific to SMF is available through the
Error program.
