2.9 Outdoor installation
Series SK 1x5E motor starters and technology units can be installed outdoors under the following
conditions:

IP66 version (See Special Measures, Section 1.7)
·
UV-resistant blind plugs and viewing window.
The UV-resistant blind plugs and inspection glasses are part of the ATEX kit for the SK 1x5E. This means
that with the use of the ATEX option for IP66 (Section 2.8) all of the conditions for outdoor installation of the
device are fulfilled.
It is recommended that the motor starter is provided with a roof.
NOTE
The diaphragm valve (bag enclosed with the IP66 version of the motor starter)
compensates for pressure differences between the interior of the device and the
environment and at the same time prevents the entry of moisture. If it is fitted in
an M16 cable gland of the motor starter, care must be taken that the diaphragm
valve does not come into contact with standing water.
