2.8.1 Modified SK 1x5E for compliance with Category 3D
Only a modified motor starter is permissible for operating an SK 1x5E in the ATEX Zone 22. This adaptation
is only made at the NORD factory. In order to use the motor starter in ATEX Zone 22, among other things,
the diagnostic caps are replaced with aluminium / glass versions.

Series SK 1x5E motor starters and the associated options are only designed for a degree
of mechanical hazard corresponding to a low impact energy of 7J.
The necessary adaptations are contained in the ATEX outdoor installation kits.
2.8.2 Options for ATEX Zone 22 3D
In order to ensure an ATEX-compliant motor starter, the approval of optional modules for explosion hazard
areas must be observed. The following lists the various options with regard to their approval for use in ATEX
Zone 22 3D.
