SECTION 8 - ERROR RECOVERY

OPERATION MANUAL - MODEL 9610

8-2

Introduction

This section of the operation manual describes how user person-
nel can respond to Cash Dispenser error conditions.

Error Recovery

The Cash Dispenser operating system determines the operational
status of each of its components by routinely performing a system
status check. A status check is performed:

1.

During power up.

2.

Once every forty seconds while the dispenser is not in use.

3.

Before leaving the Management Functions main menu screen.

4.

After every transaction.

An error detected during a status check will place the dispenser in
an “OUT OF SERVICE” mode of operation and display the mes-
sages shown in Figure 8-1 on the LCD display screen.

Many error conditions require the assistance of a qualified service
technician to return the Cash Dispenser to normal operation. But
there are some actions that the end user can perform to confirm
the existence of a problem or correct simple problems.

Table 8-1, Error Recovery Procedures, provides a list of error con-
ditions that can cause the Cash Dispenser to enter an “OUT OF
SERVICE” condition. The table lists the error codes, a description
of each error message and possible corrective actions non-ser-
vice personnel can perform in an attempt to return the unit to nor-
mal operation.

Many of the procedures direct you to RESET the Cash Dispenser
as the first step. This action may be all that is necessary to clear
the error indication. In other cases further actions may be neces-
sary. If necessary, you will be told to contact your service provider.

Resetting the Cash Dispenser

In the “OUT OF SERVICE” mode of operation the dispenser will
not respond to any inputs to the keypad or card reader.

Try to return the dispenser to normal operation by performing a
RESET. To do this, open the top enclosure access door (see CAU-
TION) and perform either of the following two actions:
