Configuring Autoinstallation
If you are setting up many J-series Services Routers, autoinstallation can help
automate the configuration process. You can use either the J-Web configuration
editor or CLI configuration editor to configure autoinstallation. The J-Web interface
does not include Quick Configuration pages for autoinstallation.

Before configuring autoinstallation, become familiar with the
terms defined in Table 41.

Term
Definition
autoinstallation
Automatic configuration of a Services Router when it is powered
on without a valid configuration file or is configured specifically for
autoinstallation. Autoinstallation is useful when deploying multiple
Services Routers.
default configuration
Configuration state when a boot file cannot be located during
autoinstallation.
host-specific configuration
Configuration state when a specific filename is used during TFTP
server requests.
