Serial-to-LAN Connection Installation

In the terminal session, click the disconnect button (if no disconnect button is available in your
terminal session, close the session). If necessary, change the baud rate to match the Gasboy
system (it may be necessary to close and re-open HyperTerminal for this change to take
affect). Click the connect button (if no connect button is available in your terminal session, re-
start the terminal session). Type AT and then press ENTER. Verify you get an OK response.
Type ATDT followed by the IP address and port number of the adapter connected to the
Gasboy system. The IP address and port number must be separated by a comma or back-slash
(for example, ATDT192.168.1.101,1001 or ATDT192.168.1.101/1001). Verify you can sign
on to the Gasboy system and run system commands. If unable to connect, ensure the adapter
and Gasboy system are powered. Check cable connection from the Gasboy system to the
adapter, adapter to adapter, and the adapter to PC. Check the system baud rate is set correctly
for the port being used. It may be necessary to default all the adapter settings and re-load them
(
on
section in this manual).

Exit command mode and type AT and then press ENTER. Verify the OK response. If the
Gasboy system responds, there may be a problem with the C04532 cable or connection to the
Gasboy system. Replace the cable or correct connection problem and repeat this test. Close the
terminal session.
16
Disconnect the CAT-5 cross cable from the adapter(s). Connect the Gasboy system adapter
(marked Gasboy FMS) to the LAN. If you loaded a temporary IP address and port number,
contact the Network Administrator (or IT personnel) to verify the values are compatible with
the LAN. Change these values if necessary. Using a PC on the LAN, repeat steps
and
above, using new IP address and port number if they have changed. If a PC is not available,
connect the laptop or test PC to the LAN, if possible. If these tests fail when connected to the
LAN, it may be a LAN security issue. The Network Administrator or IT personnel will need to
investigate and/or make changes.
