Configuring the SCSI Channels

This function allows the user to change the configuration options for each SCSI channel.

Bus Speed - The maximum speed the controller will attempt to negotiate.

160MB/sec - Default setting (DT clocking)
80MB/sec - (ST clocking)
40MB/sec - (ST clocking)

NOTE:

To avoid disk channel problems, make sure the bus speed matches the

speed of the drives installed.

SCSI ID assigned to each channel (Initiator ID) - For stand-alone dual port configurations,

the controller assigns itself a SCSI ID (factory default ID7), leaving 15 SCSI IDs available for

devices. StorCase does not recommend changing the factory default Initiator ID.
In Active-Active mode, the Initiator ID cannot be changed. When in Active-Active mode, the

dual controllers communicate with each other using SCSI Initiator IDs 6 & 7 on the disk channels.

IDs 6 & 7 are factory set to ensure optimum communication between the two controllers. These

IDs cannot be changed while in Active-Active mode. DO NOT configure any other devices

to IDs 6 & 7 on the disk channels, or the Active-Active configuration will fail to operate! StorCase

does not recommend changing the factory default Initiator ID(s).

Domain Validation - The user can enable this function to ensure that the system is running

at Ultra160 speed (this function checks for disk channel hardware and cable problems). Some

drives do not support this function, resulting in false errors (disable this function if the drives

do not support this function).
In a dual controller configuration (Active-Active or Active-Passive mode), a change to either

controller's setting is immediately sent to the other controller.
