J1 20-pin female header (2 rows of 10 pins)
J2 12-pin female header (1 row of 12 pins)
When you install the IC in the next step, be very careful to not damage crystal Y1!
Install U1 (ATMEGA8L) into the 28-in IC socket on the KDSP2 PCB. Be sure pin 1 (the end with a
notch, dimple, or U-shaped pattern) is towards 20-pin connector J1 of the KDSP2.
Film capacitors are typically in a rectangular casing of a solid color. The part value is stamped directly on
the part. These parts are not polarized.
Near the center of the bottom edge of the PCB, adjacent to J2:
C15 0.33 uF (330n or 334)
C11 0.33 uF (330n or 334)
You should have no film capacitors remaining.
The next two connectors mount on the bottom of the PCB. They will mate with the control board in the
K2. They must be mounted flush to the PCB and they must be perpendicular to it.
