1 Introduction
Overview
This manual describes how to install, set up, and use the FCArray Assistant
Client/Server software on HP NetServers using Microsoft’s Windows NT 4.0
Workstation and Server operating systems. The FCArray Assistant software is
delivered on the CD-ROM accompanying the hardware. However, diskettes must
be created to install the software. Refer to Chapter 2, "FCArray Assistant
Software Installation," for Server and Client installation, respectively.
FCArray Assistant Overview
The FCArray Assistant is a client/server application having two software
components, as listed below. Each software component handles specific tasks,
based upon its function.

FCArray Assistant Server software component
•
FCArray Assistant Client software component
The two software components (client/server) are used to monitor, manage,
maintain, and configure disk array controllers and the physical and logical drives
connected to the controllers, that are attached to HP NetServers. The following
sections describe the two FCArray Assistant software components and the
respective installation requirements. See Figure 1-1 for the FCArray Assistant
Client’s main screen.
NOTE The FCArray Assistant Server software must be installed onto
the HP NetServer before installing the FCArray Assistant
Client software on a client workstation.
