The Intelligent BBU’s features and functionality are described in detail in
Chapter 4, "Intelligent BBU Setup." This feature provides a means of
keeping up-to-date information on the condition and charge of the Battery
Backup Unit. This greatly helps in preventing a loss of user data in case of
a power outage and allows the user a method of checking or recharging the
battery without removing it from the FCArray Controller.
•
Scan Devices: Scans for new devices, which have been recently added and
are not currently identified within FCArray Assistant.
•
Advanced Functions: Opens a submenu from which you can select the
following option (see Figure 3-6):
◊
Performance Analysis - Not available in this version of FCArray
Assistant.
◊
Flash Utility - Provides the ability to upgrade controller firmware, as
new firmware maintenance releases become available.
◊
Shutdown - The shutdown feature should only be used when
performing maintenance on the Rack Storage/12FC (or FCArray
Controller Card) where AC power will be disconnected for more than
48 hours. This feature prevents potential user data loss by flushing the
write-back cache and prevents unnecessary draining of the battery
back-up unit (BBU).
