Calling from an Extension / Blind Dial
If your modem is connected to a large inhouse telephone system, it may be neces-
sary to disable the modem's dial tone detection since many systems do not provide
a standard dial tone. This is done by setting
ATS41.4=1
. Now the modem can
initiate a dialing sequence without having detected a dial tone. Let the modem dial
the outside line code which provides the regular dial tone to your extension and
then wait for a moment before continuing the dial. To wait, insert the
W
character
at the appropiate place in the dial string. The modem will wait for the number of
seconds specified in the S-register
S6
. Example:
ATS41.4=1DP9W1234567
In some systems, the dial tone is requested not by dialing a number as above, but by
sending a flash signal. In this case, insert the exclamation mark (!) into the dial-
string:
ATS41.4=1DP!W1234567
