SOUND FIELD PROGRAMS
Sound field program descriptions
This unit is equipped with a variety of precise digital decoders that allow you to enjoy multi-channel playback from
almost any stereo or multi-channel sound source. This unit is also equipped with a YAMAHA digital sound field
processing (DSP) chip containing several sound field programs which you can use to enhance your playback experience.
The YAMAHA CINEMA DvSP modes are cimipatible with all Dolby Digital DTS. and Dolby vSiirround sources. Set “INPUT MODE''
to “AUTO” (see page 34) to enable this unit to autoinalically switch to the appropriate digital decoder according to the input signal.
Notes
• The DSP sound field programs of this unit are recreations of rcal-w'orld acoustic environments made from precise measurements taken
in the actual concert hall, music venue, movie theater, etc. Thus, you may notice variations in the strength of the refiections corning
from the front, back, left and right.
• Choose a sound field program based on your listening preference, not merely on the name of the progrtim itself
■ For movie/video sources
You can select from the following sound fields when playing movie or video sources. The sound fields marked “MULTF’
cun be used with multi-channel sources, like DVD, digital TV, etc. Those marked “2-CH” can be used with 2-channel
stereo sources like TV programs, video tapes, etc.

Press PROGRAM <1 / on the front panel repeatedly (or set the component selector swatch to AMP and then press one of the sound
field program selector buttons on the remote control) to select the desired sound field program (see page 63).

CINEMA DSP processing. Reproduces the sound environment of a large concert
hall using the surround sound field to enhance your experience of watching
various TV programs such as news, variety shows, music programs or sports
programs.
CINEMA DSP processing. Reproduces monaural video sources (such as old
movies) at the optimum reverberation level to create sound depth using only the
presence sound field.
CINEMA DSP processing. Adds a deep and spatial feeling to video game
sounds.
