Winder
Mode Switch
The Winder has a Mode Switch for turning it “Off” or “On”.
Off – Winder is disabled. Use this setting for Fanfold or Roll to Cut operation.
On – Winder is enabled. Use this setting for Roll to Roll operation.

Speed Control
For proper media feeding and printing, you need to adjust the speed on the Winder
depending on the size of roll and print quality/speed you are running.
To speed up the Winder, turn the Speed Control Knob clockwise.
To slow the speed, turn the Speed Control Knob counterclockwise.
In general, the Winder speed can be set to maximum (fully clockwise); when it is
being used with the Mach X. The Winder speed control adjustment is more
important when the Winder is used with a device other than the Mach X (non-
interfaced device).
NOTE: If the speed is set too slow, the roll may not be re-wound properly; producing a loose roll.

Tension Control Selector
Use the “Tension Control Selector” [A] to adjust the spring tension on the
“Label Tension Arm” for different media widths. Use the "0" setting (less
tension) for narrow media and the "4" setting (highest tension) for the widest
media.
NOTE: Setting the tension improperly can cause print misregistration and
image distortion; due to media being pulled with too much force. If this occurs,
try decreasing the tension (set for lower number).
If tension is set too low, the roll may not be re-wound properly; producing a
loose roll.
Description of Function
• Winder turns the hub clockwise (winding media) if the Label
Tension Arm drops below the midpoint of its arc.
The lower the Arm falls the faster the unit turns clockwise.
• Winder turns the hub counter-clockwise (un-winding media) if the Label Tension Arm lifts
above the midpoint of its arc.
The higher the Arm is lifted the faster the unit turns counter-clockwise.
• Winder will STOP if:
The Label Tension Arm is positioned near the midpoint of its arc.
The Label Tension Arm drops so it makes continuous contact with the bottom limit and there
is no media separating the metal section of the arm from the metal stop.
The Label Tension Arm makes continuous contact with the top limit of its arc.
