Chapter 14:
FTP printer management
This chapter contains the following sections:
•
FTP logon - Describes how to establish an FTP connection
•
Directory structure of the FTP server - Describes the folder structure of
the FTP server
•
FTP firmware update - Describes how to update firmware via FTP
Using the File Transfer Protocol (FTP), you can manage and transfer files on
the network via the Ethernet interface or WLAN card. You will require an FTP
program (FTP client) which supports the “binary” transfer mode to manage
the printer. The printer functions as an FTP server.
FTP printer management is comprised of four functions:
•
management of the memory card installed in the label printer (see Chapter
15: Memory media)
•
printer firmware update (see Copying new firmware via interface on page
13-2)
•
IFFS management (see Directory structure of the FTP server on page 14-3)
•
direct printing via copying .LBL files (see Directory structure of the FTP
server on page 14-3)
