3.1 Theory of Operation
The MD2401 is capable of receiving four L-band signals between 950-1750Mhz. The IF signals
are then converted into data. The data is digitally filtered, passed through the Viterbi FEC,
differentially decoded and descrambled before it is sent to the RS422 terrestrial interface. The
RS422 data from each demodulator can be retrieve from the rear panels of each demodulator.
An optional Ethernet Data Interface is available. The Ethernet Data interface can multiplex the
RS422 data from the demodulators into a single 10/100/1000 Base-T interface. Figure 3.1
identifies the system block diagram supporting the Ethernet data interface. Figure 3.2 is the VME
Demodulator block diagram.
