EKO Instrum ents MS-110A Sunphotom eter

The EKO Sunphotom eter is designed to determ ine atm ospheric turbidity by m easuring the attenuation
of direct solar radiation at a defined spectral band. The sunphotom eter sensor is m ounted on a 2-axis
tracking m echanism for fully autom atic operation. Direct solar radiation that passes through the incidence
part of the instrum ent is separated into several spectral com ponents by interference filters m ounted on
a filter wheel, which is then detected by a silicon photodiode sensor that em its a current proportional to
the spectral com ponent, the later conversion to a voltage output by an I=V converter.

Yankee Environm ental System s Model SPUV Sunphotom eter

Instrum ent Design: The interference filters used in this instrum ent have exceptional long-term stability
and out-of-band rejection properties. The filters and detectors are located in a therm ally controlled enclosure
and are held at a constant tem perature so that they do not experience therm al cycling due to day-night
tem perature variation. In addition, the design incorporates solar energy absorbing pre-filters on UV channels
to m inim ize the am ount of out–of-band energy that those filters are exposed to during operation.
