The following sections go over additional parameters associated with the CB-2 and its functionality.
10.1 Configuration Parameters for the CB-2 Weighed Materials Discharged Using an
Inch Gate
When configuring the CB-2 for inching gates it is important to know the time in seconds required to fully open
and close the inching gate. Make sure the weigh hopper is completely empty before continuing. If possible, bins
should contain material to assist with the accuracy of the required times.
Manually open the discharge gate and record the amount of time in seconds required to fully open the gate.
Repeat a few times for accuracy. Average the time readings and this number will represent the “fully open time”
for the gate. This process can be repeated to calculate the “fully closed time”.

Aggregate (OR) Cement
Inch Time
Duration in milliseconds (.001 second). Generally the “INCH TIME” time segment is calculated by dividing the
“Fully Open Time” by 100. If the fully open time was 2 seconds (2000 milliseconds) / 100 the “INCH TIME”
time segment would equal 20. The output relays that provide voltage to open and close the inching gate would be
enabled for 20 millisecond intervals during flow rate adjustments. Dividing the “Fully open time” by 100 is an
example that is often used. This number can be changed when applicable.
Initial Burst
Duration in seconds. Time that enables the open gate output relay when initially opening a gate. Keep in mind the
“Fully Open Time” when selecting this value.
Control Rate Filter
Number of flow rate samples used to calculate rate adjustments. Sample rate is set at 100 per second. The number
of samples selected will vary the time between flow rate adjustments. If the control rate filter is 100 there will be
a 1 second interval between flow rate adjustments. If this value is set to 50 the flow rate adjustments will be done
at .5 second interval.
Target Discharge Rate
Desired lb/kg discharge rate per second.
Discharge Rate Tolerance
Discharge rate within this tolerance % will not cause any flow rate adjustments.
Wide Open Weight
When the material weight left to discharge falls below this value the inching gate will open fully. This adjustment
serves as a “clean out” action. The aggregate scale will not open fully even when the material weight falls below
this value until the cement has totally discharged. In this situation, the aggregate gate will close until the cement
is discharged and then open fully.
If this number is set too high material can over flow an aggregate belt if used. This parameter is applicable for a
hopper type scale.
Close Time
Duration in seconds. This value equals the fully closed time. If the inching gate has no gate closed limit switch,
this value will be used.
