7 Operation
If the work load is modified:
Please note
Work load masses which have been increased at a later stage modify the
clamping conditions and can impair functional reliability.

Observe the maximum loading within the permitted limits.
If set correctly, the clamping unit will hold the work mass firmly. Otherwise
the clamping unit must be adjusted again (see chapter “Commissioning –
preparation”).
S Adjust the clamping unit regularly or whenever there are signs of wear.
Test procedure Clamping unit
Sign of wear – Clamping unit cannot hold work load
– Loud noises
– Holding force is not reached (breakthrough)
The moveable mass should always remain safely in the clamp-
ing position and reach the end positions without striking hard
against them.
Test cycle Every 100 000 clampings
Adjusting cycle Every 500 000 clampings or whenever there are signs of wear

S Check to see if more frequent tests are required. This may be the case:
– when subjected to high temperatures
– when very dirty
– when in the vicinity of solvent liquids or fumes.
