Error Text
Overrides File
You can override error message text returned by the Tandem DDE Gateway to make
messages more specific to your client application or to translate the messages into non-
English languages.
You must identify the name of the error text overrides file using the
DdeGatewayTextFile option of the [Configuration] section in the Tandem DDE
Gateway configuration file (TMDGW.INI). Whenever error messages are displayed,
they are identified by a text “subsystem” and an error number. The subsystem name
together with the error message number uniquely identifies every message.
Note
Subsystems identify the various internal components of the Tandem DDE Gateway and are displayed
with all error messages.
This is an example of a Tandem DDE Gateway error message:
008
Overriding Error
Message Text
Group the override message text for any given subsystem of the Tandem DDE
Gateway under one section name that is made up of the subsystem name concatenated
with “-Message-Text”. For example, group the message overrides for RSC subsystem
messages in the section RSC-Message-Text.
To override any one message within the Tandem DDE Gateway subsystem, enter a
line with the following syntax:
ErrorMessageNumber=Override error text
Many error messages have variable information, such as a PortName, at the end. Be
sure to write your message override text so that it reads sensibly when the variable
information is automatically appended.
This is an example error message text override file:
[RSC-Message-Text]
43=Please contact system operations. PortName is:
[TDMGW-Message-Text]
35=Mauvais DDE EXECUTE function.
