Gateway Configuration File

110838 Tandem Computers Incorporated

The Tandem DDE Gateway looks for an initialization file named
GATEWAY.INI in the TDMGW directory.

Gateway Configuration

File

You can specify the name and location of the Tandem DDE Gateway initialization file
in the [Tdmgw] section of the Windows initialization file (WIN.INI) as described in the
preceding section. Otherwise, the Tandem DDE Gateway program (TDMGW.EXE)
will look for a TDMGW.INI file in the current directory in effect when the Tandem
DDE Gateway is started.

You can configure the following objects in the TDMGW.INI file:

PortName

objects to identify communications resources.

ApplicationName

objects to associate application names used in DDE Execute

INITIALIZESERVICE commands with PortName objects and Tandem Pathway
environments or Expand node names.

The TDMGW.INI file consists of the following six sections:

[Configuration] section

[ApplicationPorts] section

[ApplicationHostEnvironments] section

[Ports] section

PortName configuration section (one per PortName)

[AutomaticStartup] section

Each of these sections is described in detail in the following sections.

For ease of reading, this manual refers to the Gateway Configuration File as
TDMGW.INI. However, you do not need to enter all the configuration options into
one file. You can refer to other configuration files in the TDMGW.INI file. This is
useful if you have a Local Area Network (LAN). For example, you can have one
central TDMGW.INI file with shared configuration options on a LAN file server (such
as the Multilan DOS file server) and this central TDMGW.INI file can then refer to
configuration files on workstations for the individual data communications
configurations. Similarly, to simplify maintenance, the ServiceName object
configuration can be stored in a file on a LAN file server which is accessed by all
workstations.

[Configuration] Section

The [Configuration] section of the TDMGW.INI file consists of five entries:

DdeDict

ElementCacheEntries

ServiceMapFile

ServiceMapSection

DdeGatewayTextFile
