The INITIALIZESERVICE command for the READ-EMPLOYEE transaction specifies
an ApplicationName of PAYROLL. The PAYROLL ApplicationName is associated
with the PortName of PORT2 and the Pathway environment of \ATHENS.$PAY. In
the example, the PORT2 PortName is configured as an asynchronous connection.
The INITIALIZESERVICE command for the ORDER-STOCK transaction type does not
specify an ApplicationName and so DEFAULT is used. The ApplicationName of
DEFAULT is associated with the PortName of DEFAULT and the Pathway
environment of DEFAULT. In the example, the DEFAULT PortName is configured as
a NetBIOS connection. The use of the DEFAULT Pathway environment caused RSC
defaults to be used to locate the Pathway server class.
In addition to configuring the various Tandem DDE Gateway objects, a configuration
file allows you to override error text returned by the Tandem DDE Gateway. You can
set up installation-specific error text or translate error messages to languages other
than English.
