Troubleshooting IDM
IDM Events
Sortable columns of information are available for each event:
You can sort the Events listing by Source, Severity, Status or Date. Click the
desired column heading to sort in descending order. Click the column heading
again to sort in ascending order. A down pointer in the column heading
indicates descending order, and an up pointer indicates ascending order.
The Event Log is trimmed at the level specified in the IDM Preferences
window; by default there will be 1000 events in the event log.
Column Heading Description
Source
This column contains the name or IP address of the component or
device that generated the event.
This column contains the name of the application component or
device that generated the event. This column also contains color-
coded icons that indicate:
Connected
Warning
Unreachable
From unknown device
Severity
The Severity column shows the severity of each event. Events are
categorized into five levels of severity.
Informational - routine events
Warning - unexpected service behavior
Minor - switch error that may impact performance
Major - switch error with potential of inhibiting some with
operations
Critical - severe switch error with the potential of halting
all switch operations
Date
The Date column identifies the date and time when the event occurred.
The date is shown in the Day of Week/Month/Day/Year/Time format.
Ack’d
The Ack'd column identifies whether the event has been
acknowledged. A check mark in the blue square indicates that the
event has been acknowledged.
The Status column only shows unacknowledged events if events are
deleted automatically after being acknowledged. See IDM Event
Settings for additional information.
Description
The Description column provides a short description of the event. The
description is derived from a list of predefined descriptions based on
the event type.
