3.

Change the VOLSER of the T-VOL.

When VTOC is copied, the VOLSER of the S-VOL and the T-VOL will become the same. This
step must be performed before setting the volume specified as the T-VOL back to online.

4.

Set the T-VOL back to online.

This step is not necessary if the ONLINTGT parameter of the FCESTABL command is set to
YES.

“Example of the FCESTABL Command (Version 2, COPY mode)” (page 88)

shows another example

of how the FCESTABL command is used. In this example, the FCESTABL command specifies that
the data in the source device numbered 4202 is to be copied to the target device numbered 4203
by the COPY mode while 4203 is online.

Establishing Version 2 Relationships by Volumes Using the DFSMSdss Command

The DFSMSdss command used to process the Version 2 volume copy operation is COPY FULL.

“Parameters for the DFSMSdss Command (Version 2/Volume Copying)” (page 88)

by volumes.

The COPYVOLID command option allows you to select whether you want
to copy the ID label (VOLSER). When you specify COPYVOLID, the ID
label of the volume set as the source is copied to the volume that is set
as the target. When the COPYVOLID command is executed, the volume
used as the target is set to offline automatically.

The COPYVOLID command had to be specified for volumes controlled
by SMS. However, when the DUMPCONDITIONING command added by
APAR OW45674 is specified, the VOLSER of the source volume is copied
to the backup tape or disk. In this case, it is not necessary to specify
COPYVOLID to copy the volume label.
