1 If a TrueCopy for Mainframe M-VOL is in pending status and you execute an ICKDSF command for Version 2, the
ICKDSF job will end abnormally with CC=12 error. For information on how to avoid that abnormal ending, see “If an
ICKDSF Command Ended Abnormally” (page 154) .
2 If you establish a Version 2 relationship with the FREEZE option when a Version 2 S-VOL and a TrueCopy Synchronous
for Mainframe R-VOL are shared, the results of Version 2 operations and TrueCopy Synchronous for Mainframe
operations will be as follows:
•
Results of Version 2 operations
When the status of a TrueCopy Synchronous for Mainframe pair is Suspend, the command will end normally, and
you can establish a Version 2 relationship. However, when the status of a TrueCopy Synchronous for Mainframe
pair is either Duplex of Pending duplex, the command will be rejected and you cannot establish a Version 2
relationship.
• Results of TrueCopy Synchronous for Mainframe operations
If a Version 2 relationship is established with the FREEZE option and if a TrueCopy Synchronous for Mainframe
R-VOL is in the extended long busy (ELB) status, the command to create or resume a pair will be rejected. However,
the command to suspend or delete a pair will be executed normally.
When you use a Version 2 S-VOL as the TrueCopy for Mainframe R-VOL, configure the system as follows:
• Connect the different hosts to the main storage system and remote storage system, or connect the host of the main
storage system to both the main and remote storage systems.
•
Use the Fibre Channel interface to connect the main storage system with the remote storage system.
3 You cannot establish the Version 2 relationship because the data consistency of the Version 2 T-VOL will not be insured.
However, this system configuration differs from the system configuration that is used when IBM
FlashCopy Version 2 and PPRC are used in conjunction with one another.

Mainframe Volume” (page 57)
describes whether or not you can perform the Reverse Restore when
you share the Version 2 S-VOL and the volume of a TrueCopy for Mainframe pair.
