Figure 12 TrueCopy for Mainframe and ShadowImage for Mainframe: Shared M-VOL/T-VOL
CAUTION:
•
When you share a TrueCopy for Mainframe R-VOL with an ShadowImage for Mainframe
S-VOL as shown in
“TrueCopy for Mainframe and ShadowImage for Mainframe: Shared
or
“TrueCopy for Mainframe and ShadowImage for Mainframe:
Shared M-VOL/S-VOL and R-VOL/S-VOL” (page 56)
the write operation to the TrueCopy for
Mainframe M-VOL takes time. Especially, when the ShadowImage for Mainframe pair is in
the V-Split status, the write operation to the TrueCopy for Mainframe M-VOL may takes extra
time according to the time for copying process of the ShadowImage for Mainframe pair.
In addition, in the case of TrueCopy for Mainframe Asynchronous, the TrueCopy for Mainframe
pair may be suspended by failure because of the shortage of the capacity of its side file.
•
When performing the Quick Restore pairresync operation on the ShadowImage for Mainframe
pair that shares the volume with TrueCopy for Mainframe Asynchronous, ShadowImage for
Mainframe S-VOL and T-VOL must be allocated to the same CLPR. When the ShadowImage
S-VOL and T-VOL are allocated to a different CLPR and you resynchronize the pair in Quick
Restore mode, you will fail to resynchronize the TrueCopy for Mainframe Asynchronous pair.
Specify the Reverse Copy mode instead of the Quick Restore mode when resynchronizing the
ShadowImage for Mainframe pair which shares the volume with the TrueCopy for Mainframe
Asynchronous pair, and whose S-VOL and T-VOL are allocated to the different CLPR. For
information about ShadowImage for Mainframe resynchronize operation, see the Hitachi
ShadowImage™ for Mainframe User's Guide: HP XP24000 Disk Array, HP XP20000 Disk
Array.
Universal Replicator for Mainframe
TrueCopy for Mainframe volumes can be assigned to Universal Replicator for Mainframe pairs.
For further information on Universal Replicator for Mainframe, see the Hitachi Universal Replicator™
for Mainframe User's Guide: HP XP24000 Disk Array, HP XP20000 Disk Array.
Virtual LVI
Virtual LVI volumes can be assigned to TrueCopy for Mainframe pairs, as long as the R-VOL has
the same or larger capacity than the M-VOL. If you need to perform Virtual LVI/LUN operations
on an existing TrueCopy for Mainframe M-VOL or R-VOL, you must release the pair first to return
the volume to simplex status. For further information on HP XP24000/XP20000 Virtual LVI/LUN,
see the HP XP24000/XP20000 Virtual LVI/LUN (VLL) and Volume Shredder User's Guide.
Cache Residency Manager
The volumes that are applied Cache Residency Manager can be assigned to TrueCopy for
Mainframe pairs, and Cache Residency Manager operations can be performed on TrueCopy for
Mainframe M-VOLs and R-VOLs. For further information on Cache Residency Manager, see the
HP XP24000/XP20000 Cache Residency Manager User's Guide.
XP Performance Control
XP Performance Control software can give higher priority to the I/O operations of the server that
requires the high processing performance than the I/O operations of the other servers. XP
