Note: The operating system detects PCI devices in the following slot order: 5-6-1-2-3-4.
The I/O expansion slots are distributed among three separate PCI-X buses.
Adding Non-Hot-Plug Expansion Boards
You can use non-hot-plug expansion boards in the ProLiant DL740 server, but you
must install them according to the following procedure. To prepare the server:
1. If this is the first time you have powered up the server, skip to step 4. If you have
previously powered up the server, back up the server data.
2. Shut down the operating system as directed in your operating system instructions.
3. Power down the server (refer to Chapter 7).
4. Disconnect the power cords from the server.
5. Slide the server out of the rack.
6. Open the top access panel, as shown in Chapter 3.
