another on the boiler/furnace. The PDE also includes individual circuit breakers for each camera. If
your site specific system design routes AC power directly to each camera location, then you most
likely will not have a PDE. Instead the circuit breaker for each camera will be located in the Retract
Controls enclosure for each camera.
2.3.6 Imaging Processor / Controller (IPC) Server
The Imaging Processor / Controller (IPC) server includes network devices for connecting to the FSE
and a computer for communicating, configuring and processing the camera data. The computer has
sufficient processing power to operate up to twenty-four (24) cameras using the BoilerSpec
Software described below in Section 2.3.7. The IPC should be located in the plant's control room.
Optional communication upgrades are available that can be integrated into the IPC to allow for
interaction between this system and the customer’s DCS system. The standard IPC is designed to
mount in a 19” rack enclosure; however, users can also select a tower style configuration if
preferred.
2.3.7 BoilerSpec™ Software
BoilerSpec™ is Windows-based software offering high-speed, real-time data acquisition and image
analysis. Its features include viewing of thermal images in real time as well as images/ sequences
that have been captured and stored to the computer’s hard disk or the network drive. The remote
configuration functionality allows adjustment of BoilerSpection camera settings such as focus (for
HD cameras only) and temperature settings from the control room. It also allows performance of
non-uniformity corrections (NUC).
2.4 Optional Components
Optional modules support communication from the IPC to the user’s industrial network via an OPC
server or I/O modules for continuous updates of maximum temperature, rate of temperature
change, camera temperature, and various ROI (regions of interest) data points. Implementation
details are defined on a customized basis to connect to the plant's DCS.
2.4.1 Software Options
LumaSense has an experienced team of software engineers that are available to develop tailored
solutions for your plant or you can consider the standard options described below.
Web Server Software Module
To further extend the capability of the BoilerSpection imaging system we offer a BoilerSpec
Software Web Server application that enables users to access real-time images captured by the
system using a web browser.
The BoilerSpec camera switch is located in the FSE near the BoilerSpection cameras on the boiler.
The BoilerSpection IPC camera server computer is located in each control room and it communicates
with and controls all the BoilerSpection cameras installed on that unit. This option adds a BoilerSpec
Web Server application to the computer in the control room that will broadcast real time images
from the system over a web interface.
