2.3 System Components
The LumaSense BoilerSpection system is delivered in separate boxes with the components as
described below.
2.3.1 BoilerSpection Camera and Lens Assembly
Inside the rugged BoilerSpection enclosure is an
exceptionally accurate 320 x 240 focal-plane array
microbolometer imaging camera with sensitivity of
0.08 °C.
The camera has a standard Ethernet interface that
simplifies communications and networking in the plant.
The camera has integrated borescope optics filtered at
approximately 3.9 µm wavelength that allows the
imager to clearly view through the combustion gas and
flames.
The borescope lens is used to extend through the
thickness of the furnace walls allowing the camera a
clear view of the inside of the boiler. The lens is both
purged and cooled with compressed air. The standard lens
length is 36 cm (14") and the lens has a viewing angle of
46° horizontal by 36° vertical. A heavy-duty enclosure with
thermostatically controlled cooling protects the camera
electronics.
2.3.2 Automatic Retraction System
The heavy-duty retraction system will automatically withdraw the camera system out of the furnace
port in the event that cooling air or power is lost to the system.
