Principle

A DMX network is composed of one controller (EASY DMX) and one or more DMX

receiving devices (e.g. DMX dimmers). The controller is the unit that transmits digital

data to the receiving devices using up to 512 DMX channels in a time multiplexed

transmission mode.

Setting DMX addresses

Each DMX receiving device is set up with DMX addresses which indicate to which

DMX channels the receiving device should listen and react.

Note:

The DMX addresses have to be set at the DMX receiving device itself; see the

separate instruction sheets of the DMX receiving device.

Typically, DMX devices only require the starting address to be set; the subsequence

addresses are associated automatically. DMX devices with DMX input and DMX out-

put typically do not require a specification of the DMX starting address and are able to

automatically associate DMX addresses by themselves.

Defining light points

DMX receiving devices associated with the same DMX (starting) addresses belong to

the same light point.

Single light point

In a “single light point” setting, the DMX (starting) addresses of all DMX receiving

devices are set to the same value. All DMX receiving devices belong to the same light

point and display the same output.

Multiple light points

In a “multiple light points” setting, the DMX (starting) addresses of DMX receiving de-

vices are set to different values. Each light point (consisting of DMX receiving devices

with identic DMX starting addresses) can be controlled independently.

Note:

The control of multiple light points is only possible after configuration with the EASY

Color Control software.

DMX channel configurations

Note:

The DMX channel configuration can only be changed via the “Setup” tab in the

EASY Color Control software.

RGB configuration (default)

In the default setting of EASY DMX, the DMX channels are set to the RGB configura-

tion. In this configuration, 3 consecutive DMX channels (1 – 3, 4 – 6, …) are used for
