7.10 Introduction to RADIUS

RADIUS is based on a client-sever model that supports authentication and accounting, where
the access point is the client and the server is the RADIUS server. The RADIUS server handles
the following tasks, among others:

• Authentication

Determines the identity of the users.

• Accounting

Keeps track of the client’s network activity.

The ZyXEL Device is equipped with an internal RADIUS server. See

Section 13.1 on page

151

for more details.

7.11 Configuring RADIUS

Use RADIUS if you want to authenticate wireless users using

the internal authentication

server (see

Section 13.1 on page 151

) or an external server.

You can configure up to four RADIUS server profiles. Each profile also has one backup
authentication server and a backup accounting server. These profiles can be assigned to an
SSID profile in the SSID configuration screen
To set up your ZyXEL Device’s RADIUS server settings, click WIRELESS > RADIUS. The
screen appears as shown.
