Hardware Protection
The VS-616PS5 comes equipped with a number of built-in functions designed to pro-
tect the inverter and its components from damage. This section describes set-up for
these functions.
When a Yaskawa-brand 3% duty cycle dynamic braking resistor is used, this function
enables protection against overheating. The duty cycle of the braking resistor is moni-
tored in the software so that it does not exceed 3%.
If the duty cycle exceeds 3%, a DB overheat fault (RH) occurs, and the inverter
coasts to stop.
Setting Range:
50 to 110°C
Factory Default:
95°C
Sets the heatsink temperature level for protection against overheat (OH).
Selects the stopping method when heatsink overheat is detected.
The input phase loss detection circuit monitors the DC bus voltage ripple and activates
when one of the input phases is lost. The detection circuit calculates the maximum and
minimum values of the DC bus voltage, and compares the difference (
∆
V) between
these values with an internal detection level. If
∆
V reaches or exceeds the detection
level, an input phase loss is detected, a PFfault occurs, and the motor coasts to stop.
