Procedure:
1. Connect the pond pump to the SMA radio-controlled socket.
2. Configure the pond pump as a load (see Section 9.3 "Configuring Loads", page 65).
3. Configure the SMA radio-controlled socket to which the pond pump is connected (see
Section 9.2, page 62) and assign to the load "pond pump" (see Section 9.2.4, page 63).
4. Set the operating mode of the SMA radio-controlled socket to Automatic (see Section 9.2.6,
☑ The Sunny Home Manager switches the SMA radio-controlled socket on within the set time
period.
✖ The Sunny Home Manager does not switch the SMA radio-controlled socket on?
You may have set the SMA radio-controlled socket to Automatic after the beginning of the
time period, e.g. the time period starts at 1:00 p.m. and you have set the
SMA radio-controlled socket to Automatic after 1:00 p.m. If the defined operation time for
the device is not available for the load within the time period, the Sunny Home Manager will
not switch the SMA radio-controlled socket on until the next time period.
• To set the connected load to start immediately, adjust the operating mode of the
SMA radio-controlled socket to Switch on (see Section 9.2.6) and switch on the load.
The load is now no longer controlled by the Sunny Home Manager.
• To have the load controlled again by the Sunny Home Manager after a manual start,
set the operating mode of the SMA radio-controlled socket to Automatic (see Section
9.4) and switch on the load.
☑ After the pond pump stops operating, the SMA radio-controlled socket switches to Off
(automatic) mode. The pond pump is restarted during the next time period.
5. If the pond pump is not to start during the next time period, set the SMA radio-controlled socket
to Switch off mode (see Section 9.2.6, page 64).
9.5 Directly Controlling Loads
Including Smart Appliances in Load Control
Smart appliances communicate via a data exchange protocol with the Sunny Home Manager. The
loads send information via Ethernet on the load type, the planned energy requirement, and the
preferred operating time period to the Sunny Home Manager.
The Sunny Home Manager factors this information into its load control, and also taking their
configured optimization targets in the context of load control into account, sends appropriate start
and stop signals to the loads.
Requirements:
☐ You must be an Installer or a PV system administrator (see Section 13.1 "Users and User
☐ The load must support the data exchange protocol defined by SMA Solar Technology AG (see
the manual of the load).
