CLI Reference Guide
dns
The dns command is used to configure Domain Name System (DNS) or to display DNS
configuration information. DNS allows network devices to identify each other using domain names
instead of IP addresses. DNS makes it possible to reference locations by domain name in addition
to using the routable IP address. DNS translation is supported in all the following applications:
• Address Book entries
• Syslog
Before DNS for domain name/address resolution can be used, you must configure the addresses
for the primary and secondary DNS servers
.
