6 Detailed Harmonics

6.1 Detailed Harmonics Overview

Detailed Harmonics captures 10 cycles of wave data and then performs a harmonic decomposition of the data
for all signals. A 10 cycle capture over 1024 points delivers increments in frequency of 0.1 per unit Hz, or for
example, 6 Hz for a 60 Hz base frequency. This allows the user to see frequencies that are “non-integer”
multiples of the base frequency (especially useful for arc furnace measurements). Integers can also be
displayed. The 10 cycle measurement gives an average value of distortion over the measurement, and not a
worst case single cycle result. Data analysis includes:

• Wave data and harmonics for all channels and calculated neutral current.
• Harmonics to 51.1 x base frequency (3066 Hz for 60 Hz base) with THD.
• Option of integers displayed to 50

th

harmonic.

• Option to maximize spectra over time.
• Option of continuous update to screen (as fast as the PC can go).
• Option to save each capture in the database automatically.
• IEEE 519-1992 tabulation and entry of PCC maximum demand, short circuit ratio and bus defined kV.

6.2 Detailed Harmonics Configuration

The Detailed Harmonics configuration gives the user access to several display and capture features.
All critical information for defining Detailed Harmonics data capture is accessed here.

Items in Critical Configuration
