Using Flash Files & Updating Firmware 8-3
Saves this NCL file to flash memory and whenever the printer is turned
on, it uses the above settings for supply type, ribbon, feed mode,
contrast, and speed.

You can boot the printer with a configuration file saved in the printer’s
flash memory or a configuration file saved on the BOOTP server or DHCP
server (if this option is available on the network).
Note:
If there is a flash file present, the printer is configured with those
settings. A flash file saved in the printer has priority over the
files on the BOOTP or DHCP server.
Using a Flash Configuration File
When you turn on the printer, it boots and processes the file saved in
flash memory. See “Creating a Flash Configuration File,” for more
information.
Using a BOOTP or DHCP Server
When you turn on the printer, it reads the file from the BOOTP or DHCP
server (“BootFileName”) and configures the printer using that file.
At power-up the printer reads the file from the server.

The printer's and network card's firmware can be updated. Firmware
updates take several minutes to complete. After the firmware is updated,
the printer and network card are reset, which deletes any logged data and
may cause file transfers in progress to fail.
Check the printer and network card for the correct firmware before
changing the configuration (printer or network card) or transferring files.
The best solution is to create separate NCL files for each task (firmware
updates, file transfers, configuration, etc.).
