SET MOVIE FRAMING
1. Click the Framing Control panel within the REDRAY panel.
NOTE: The Framing Control Panel is part of the REDRAY panel. For more information on creating a custom
REDRAY panel, go to
“Create a REDRAY Panel” on page 37
.
2. Since .RED files are encoded at a resolution of 4096 x 2160p, select the proper Fit setting from the drop-
down menu to map your source content:
‒ Fit Height: Select if your source content has an aspect ratio of 16:9. This creates an active image area
of 3840 x 2160p, with additional black bars on either side.
‒ Fit Width: Select if your source content has an aspect ratio of 2.39:1. This creates an active image area
of 4096 x 1714p, with additional black bars above and below.
NOTE: You can also select Stretch W/H and use the Crop settings to map other aspect ratio images or iso-
late specific areas of the source image into the 4096 x 2160p encoded master. However, RED recommends
that you experiment on short clips first to understand the specific effect of each setting before attempting
these on full-length features.
