Planting too
much

Incorrect seed rate.

Check seed rate setup per Seed Rate Manual.

Incorrect seed wheel can cause dou-
bles

Install meter wheels with cell sizes recommended for seed
size.

Incorrect seed wheel cell count or
finger count.

Use chart rates for installed components, or replace wheels
or finger meters. Charts are based on either 6 finger or 12
finger meters or various wheel counts.

Brush too loose on finger meter

Adjust brush (page 68).

Actual field size is different.

Verify field size.

Excessive overlap.
Irregular shaped field.

Adjust marker, page 49.

Incorrect tire size or air pressure.

Use correct air pressure, page 111.

Improper main shaft sprocket.

Check sprockets. Hydraulic drive and ground drive use
23-tooth.

Improper gap on speed sensor.

Check speed sensor on planter for

wheel. Improper gap can cause erratic speed signal causing
monitor to falsely report improper planting rate. Monitor may
also falsely report a low rate on soybeans by as much as 5
percent due to difficulty in counting all of the seeds.

Uneven
seed
spacing

Excessive field speed.

Reduce field speed.

Unclean seed.

Use clean seed.

Seed-Lok plugging.

Row-unit disks not turning.

See “Row-unit disks not turning freely.” in this Trouble-
shooting chart.

Plugged row-unit seed tube.

Lift up planter, expose bottom of seed tube and clean out.

Worn/rusted sprockets and/or chain
idler or bearings.

Check and replace any worn/rusted sprockets or chain idlers.

Partially plugged row-unit seed tube. Lift up planter, expose bottom of seed tube and clean out.

Lack of proper seed lubrication on
seed.

See “Seed Lubricants” on page 96.

Use of excessively sticky or wet
seed treatment.

Check your treatment.

Inadequate contact wheel spring
pressure.

Check for correct tire air pressure, page 111.

Air pressure in contact wheel incor-
rect.

Planter does
not fold or
unfold fully

Fold cylinders out of phase.
