Introduction
Description of Unit
One of 17 dealer- or field-installed kits convert the
hydraulic fan power source from tractor hydraulic remote
to tractor Power Take-Off (PTO). An additional kit
updates older fan motors for PTO compatibility.
Refer to Figure 1
Each Single-Section PTO Pumps kit includes:
• a flow control valve assembly for setting fan rpm,
• a tethered 540 or 1000 rpm PTO pump , with torque
arm and safety chain (no gearbox is required; a
coupler is required for the 1000 rpm pump),
• an oil reservoir , with sight gauge, line filter and
6.5 gallon capacity (5.5 gallons/21 liters, used),
• an oil cooler , mounted inside the fan, and;
• all interconnecting hoses (not shown).
There are separate kits for rigid and rotating planters,
pull-type and 3-point planters, planters with and without
fertilizer capability and ground drive vs. hydraulic drive.
Suitable Applications
A PTO kit may be needed where:
• the tractor has an Open Center hydraulic system;
• the tractor has no remote port for the fan; or,
• the tractor is Closed Center, but the remotes offer
insufficient oil flow to reliably operate the fan.
