8.1.4
OPC tunnel
If an OPC server and an OPC client are located on different computers, OPC tunnels are used. This is
a software which is installed on both computers and which acts as client/server itself.
The OPC tunnel for example uses the TCP/IP protocol to transfer the data between the OPC server
and OPC client. OPC tunnels provide for a cross-platform and cross-network communication of OPC-
based applications.
OPC tunnels are the basis for communication...
• between the engineering PC and the Controller (e.g. establishing communication in the »PLC
Designer«, »VisiWinNET®«) Engineering tools.
• between the Controller and other (remote) computers.

Runtime is not provided.
