Direct connection
A direct connection is available depending on the device.
The direct connection is suitable to commission field devices for the first time (download).
In case of the direct connection, the download times are optimal.
The Controller must not necessarily be already executable.
Advantage
Disadvantage
Provides for a fast data transmission.
• The Engineering PC may affect the real-time
capability of the controller by a high utilisation of the
fieldbus. Example: The Engineering PC sends
telegrams, whereas the controller transmits
synchronisation protocols.
• The direct connection requires the use of fieldbus-
specific adapters. If no adapter is available, access can
alternatively be effected via Ethernet.
• Requires an executable PLC program.
Online connection via the gateway function of the
controller via CAN/EtherCAT ( 48)
Further information can be found in the device-specific documentation.
