6 Configuration
6.8 PROFIBUS (version 02)
As of system version 02, a PROFIBUS-DP interface module is supported (option for interface
Com2, see order details).

The PROFIBUS-DP interface is operated as slave and works according to the V0 protocol (cy-
clic data transfer). To connect to a master (e. g. external PLC), a GSD file is required which
contains information about the communication characteristics of the system.
A GSD file is included in the scope of delivery of the system. It supports the transfer of 21 input
values (output data of the master) and 21 output values (input data of the master) of float or
integer data type (2 or 4 bytes). All process values of the central processing unit and of the con-
nected modules are available as output values.
GSD files with different configuration can be generated customer-specifically by the manufac-
turer on request.
For addressing the variables which are read or written via PROFIBUS, frame 5 of the Modbus
frames is used in each case. This frame must be configured as Modbus slave.

The use of frame 5 for Modbus and PROFIBUS at the same time is not inhibited by the sys-
tem.
Variables may be accidentally overwritten.
For simultaneous operation of Modbus and PROFIBUS frame 5 is not allowed to be used for
Modbus.
