IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Do not use this product near appliances that use water, in a wet basement or near
a swimming pool.

Avoid using a telephone during an electrical storm. There may be a remote risk
of electric shock from lightning.
Release the Scanner Lock

Press the blue Scanner
Cover Release Button on
the right side of the MFC
and lift the scanner cover
until it locks in the open
position.

The blue Scanner Lock
Lever is on the back left
underside of the scanner
cover. Pull the lever
toward you to unlock
the scanner.
Caution
If the message “CHECK SCAN LOCK” appears on the LCD, unlock the
scanner immediately and press
Stop .
Caution
If the message “MACHINE ERROR AF” or “MACHINE ERROR AE” appears
on the LCD, do not attempt to operate the machine. Call Customer Service for
assistance. (See Brother Numbers, page i.)
